Performance-Driving Instructor & Engineering Test Driver
Ryan Robinson is a professional driving instructor with a background spanning high-performance coaching, engineering test driving, and real-world vehicle development. A former Porsche Experience Center Los Angeles driving instructor, Ryan now works with drivers of all experience levels to build confidence, precision, and control behind the wheel.
His perspective comes from more than one driving environment or vehicle type. Ryan has experience coaching and evaluating a wide range of cars, from front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive platforms to all-wheel-drive layouts, as well as front-, mid-, and rear-engine vehicles. That breadth allows him to tailor his instruction to the specific behavior of each car, helping drivers understand not just what to do, but why the car responds the way it does.
Beyond instruction, Ryan has contributed to vehicle testing and evaluation for Tesla, Rivian, and AMG, giving him firsthand insight into how modern performance systems, EV torque delivery, and chassis dynamics behave near the limit. That combination of teaching experience and development work gives Ryan a uniquely practical approach to car control.
Through his Shift Robinson platform, Ryan is known for making complex vehicle dynamics approachable and usable. His teaching emphasizes anticipation over reaction, smoothness over aggression, and understanding over memorization. Whether on track, in the canyons, or at speed-sensitive limits, Ryan’s approach centers on helping drivers stay calm, balanced, and ahead of the car.
We know there are many tracks and cars out there, so once you complete your order of in-person on-track sessions, your instructor will personally contact you within 48 hours. Please make sure to input the correct email at checkout. Together, you’ll confirm which track you wish to drive on, what car you’ll be using, and finalize the date that works for you. Your session is fully customized to your needs and location, so you can focus on the driving.
Full-Day: as long as you’d like to stay;
Half-Day: two sessions (morning or afternoon);
Phone Consultation: your preference of voice or video call.
